Our strategic partner, UpHouse Inc., asked us to create a visual brand for Camp Cantina, a food and wine escape in a scenic national park. Here’s how we made it happen.
Camp Cantina offers a unique culinary experience in Canada's Riding Mountain National Park with a menu of organic wines, local craft beers, and delicious food. There’s also a deli counter with picnic takeaways and a small grocery store with local products and camping supplies.
Megan, the founder of Camp Cantina, left the corporate world to pursue her passions for craft wine, fine food, and the stunning scenery of Riding Mountain National Park.
To create a unique dining destination that combines nostalgic charm with an upscale experience.
UpHouse Inc. worked closely with Megan to brainstorm a name for her new business. 'Camp Cantina' was chosen, capturing the spirit of adventure and community, and evoking the cozy, communal vibe of gathering around a campfire with good food and great company.
Inspired by the rustic elegance of Camp Wandawega and the historic charm of the Danceland building, Megan wanted the brand to have a vintage feel but still be elegant.
In 2022, we worked with UpHouse Inc. and Megan to refine her vision, drawing inspiration from classic diners and sleek, Mad Men-style cocktail bars.
The logo, influenced by local ranching and the Tudor Revival architecture of the Danceland building (where Camp Cantina is located), resembles a horseshoe or a stylized wine glass.
The star in the logo reflects the quote by Dom Pérignon:
“Come quickly, I am tasting the stars.”
This sentiment perfectly captures the magical starlit nights at the park.
We chose a palette that reflects a vintage diner feel—mosaic tile floors and mint green enamel lanterns of the 1940s—creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
These design elements guided our choices for Camp Cantina’s brand colours, fonts and shapes, and were selected to honour the area's history and beauty.
